"This is the coolest thing I’ve seen since Blue Eye Samurai. A fantasy/musical/action/comedy tale about the age old good versus evil and tons of other positive themes. Animation blew me away. The facial expressions alone. I know absolutely nothing about KPop but the music had me all in my feels, up and down. The three main characters are all timers. Definite rewatchable. "
"I had heard some of the music before watching, but it hits different when it plays in the actual scenes. Now it's been a couple weeks since I watched it and I still get some of the songs stuck in my head! That said, I found some moments a bit underwhelming, and even during a moment early in the movie I was a bit annoyed by something the MC did which I felt ultimately caused the big conflict. For that I can't give it a 5-star rating but it was still fun with a great OST so 7.5/10🍜🪞🌟"
"Honestly, surprisingly good & fun. I upped it to 5 stars since I showed a boy & girl the movie. They were both INVESTED! Legit they couldn't stop watching it.
The opening goes so hard, & I already saw it beforehand. It's comedic & enjoyable, & I found myself humming it throughout the rest of the movie. That opening truly helps set up what you're about to go into as well. It doesn't hit on the emotional aspect as well, but the story goes fast & keeps you on your toes.
Next, the animation. It felt like an anime in 3D. I will admit it was off putting at times. It felt jarring & broke the suspension of disbelief for me, yet I want to see more like this. I'm not sure they truly articulated anime cliches well for their 3D aspects, but there were shots that felt right. Other times, it seemed out of place & not consistent. Still, I'm ready for more to explore this.
The voice acting was incredible. Netflix pulled out a star-studded cast, & they did their jobs well. There wasn't a moment that I thought they sounded off either. They encompassed their characters so well & made sure they played them.
As for the part you're really waiting for, the songs. The songs are their own cast in this movie, playing their parts well, being what they need to be, showing inner thoughts, playing to the animation perfectly, & just being catchy overall. Each one was made for the moment they were at. You can feel it, which only makes the scenes work that much better. I definitely will be downloading one, maybe two. . .
Overall, a fun, energetic, heartfelt, good time. You'll enjoy it, find one song you want to jam out to, & feel your heart warm up a bit. I find myself not only in awe at the production but also the execution. The story and message are there. They work in tandem to create the sympathy of the movie. I truly mean that in every way. This movie flows like a song with some bumpy wavelengths to keep things interesting. You'll want to be a Huntrix fan, too.
Show em how it's Done Done Done!"
