"I now have a little more respect for Mark Wahlberg as an actor after seeing his performance in this movie. Based on the true story of Stuart Long who turned his life around and found God, but stayed true to who he was while on his journey. Wahlberg actually gained a bunch of weight for the role to play a character that would eventually be wheelchair bound after being diagnosed with a rare degenerative muscle disease. The story is inspirational and tragic at the same time. Mel Gibson also gives an excellent performance as his alcoholic father. Although I enjoyed it, it may not appeal to everyone. 8/10"

"This movie got me to cry almost from beginning to end. I suffer from a chronic illness, and have wrestled with my faith in the face of this depressing end on my horizon. My heart broke into pieces as I felt raw emotions I'm so used to pushing down. I saw this when it was in theaters, and it's taken me quite a while to write a review because of the intense feeling I experience just thinking about it. Prepare to cry! #tearjerkers #heartbreaking #bittersweet #chronicillness #religion_and_spirituality "
