"What a soulful and magical film! Based on a Stephen King short story told in 3 acts (albeit in reverse) that essentially follows a fictional character’s life (Chuck Krantz), not only was the story impressively told in a manner that felt like seeing a short story brought to life as you read it, I was especially struck by how much it was filled with heart and was able to capture (and translate it to screen) the feeling of pure innocent joy and what makes life worth living regardless of how short or long it may be. Never has a movie made me feel so many emotions quite like this (legit fought tears at the end). Incredible screenplay, performances (Mark Hamill and Tom Hiddleston especially stand out), and most especially casting choices. There is a beautiful dance sequence with Tom Hiddleston worth checking out for too! I sincerely hope this contends for Oscars especially for Adapted Screenplay, Casting (a new category coming in the upcoming Oscars) and Picture at the very least. Easily one of the best films of the year, and one we need more of. I can totally see why this film won the Toronto Film Festival’s Audience Award last year (2024). Heavily recommended."

"It’s been a while since I have felt compelled to write a note. I loved this movie. The layers, framing and message work together to present a deeply touching story. Though King’s canon is less consistent than I would like; when he gets it right, he gets it right. #drama #dramadept #julietsfavorites #julietspicks"
"this was a deeply profound story that’s so clearly from stephen king and mike flanagan has it really figured out on how to make these adaptations happen. it’s a series of incredibly poignant conversations between incredibly talented actors.
this was a very memorable first viewing that was only partially ruined by the idiot in the row before me that clearly was so bored he started playing game son his ******* phone until I told him to put it away and then he left. if you’re that bored in a movie, go sleep and if you’re too much of a loser, go home!"
"Life-changing and perspective-altering as a whole, this move quantifies all that is magical and downright special about not just life, but living. Purpose, meaning, why does it all matter, all pale in comparison to the more important questions; what are you going to do about it? Which path will you choose? At the end, will you be able to say, “It was all worth it?” Will you look back not with regret, but pride and contentment? Will you dance? Will you live? Will you love?"
"**A true cinematic experience.**
Going into this film, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Now that I’ve seen it, I feel like it’s going to take me several days to fully process its deeper meaning. It’s the kind of movie that lingers in your mind and makes you think long after the credits roll.
One thing I can say for certain is that I really enjoyed it. The way the story unfolds in reverse—while initially disorienting—ultimately ties everything together in a surprisingly satisfying way. It’s a bold creative choice that pays off and elevates the storytelling.
The performances were top-tier, with excellent acting across the board. The characters felt authentic and compelling, and they made the journey all the more engaging. There were also some truly powerful lines scattered throughout the dialogue—memorable enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if this film eventually earns “modern classic” status.
Honestly, I feel like I need to watch it again just to catch all the nuances and layers I might’ve missed the first time. Both my wife and I were thoroughly impressed, and we’re glad we made the trip to see it in theaters. It was more than just a movie—it was an experience.
