"I enjoyed this movie even though the majority of critics and audience both agree that it was lackluster. It is a shame because Bill Murray is actually really good as FDR both in looks and acting, plus King George VI is played by Samuel West who is now best known for playing Siegfried Farnon on the recent revival of (All Creatures Great and Small). My theory for why the film did not resonate is because they tried to cover two storylines, one involving his extramarital relationships with main focus on Daisy/Margaret Suckley, and the Royal Visit of King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth (the parents of Queen Elizabeth II). I think it would have been better if they remained focused one or the other but not both. Personally the Royal Visit was the most interesting and so they could have the FDR extramarital affairs addressed within that context without juggling two of the storylines together, thus improve the film overall."
