The impressionistic story of a Texas family in the 1950s. The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father. Jack finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.

"The most introspective movie I’ve ever seen. In that, is it a huge success. The movie makes you feel so many different emotions. And in such a personal way. It’s art and meditation. The movies about the human experience. Specifically childhood. But also why and how we’re here. Cinematography was spectacular. A beautiful film. I just wish there was some conclusion. The Sean Penn character fell flat and needed resolution. Overall it’s an extremely unique film, that has my respect. 70/100

"It's a literal piece of **** film. The visuals and music are beautiful until they start the story. The story is shot on a vertical angle and is not told well at all.
A total crap movie unless you really try to give it meaning as fans of the movie will. Think of a classic novel that was written with no meaning in mind, but your high school teacher insisted that the author had a grand point and meaning for it all. "
