"This was such a good film! Fun and entertaining throughout, the movie managed to take a predictable plot of a man seeking redemption after his racing career was brutally cut short and make it thoroughly engaging throughout its entire runtime. Without question the filmmaking is the standout here, with the sound design and especially the editing standing out, with the fast paced cut of the editing never being distracting and serving the story effectively (I would be extremely happy if the film manages to win Oscars in these 2 categories). It is also paired with solid performances from the entire cast (from Brad Pitt to Kerry Condon, from Javier Bardem to most especially Damson Idris (who was the MVP of the cast IMO) among others) who bring their A-game to their roles. None of these would work to the degree of effectiveness it does without the impressive direction by Joseph Kosinski, who has proven himself to be a really effective storyteller (especially visually) between this and TOP GUN: MAVERICK, and is proving to be a worthy successor to Tony Scott (cannot wait to see what he does next). A highly recommended watch without question."

"F1 The Movie was such a pleasant surprise for me. I don't follow Formula 1 or any kind of racing and I know next to nothing about it besides cars going fast. I didn't realize how much of a team sport this was at all. I'm glad this focuses on more than just the drivers. My favorite aspects of this are easily the editing and Hans Zimmer's score. Combined they really bring a sense of urgency and excitement. I was on the edge of my seat and so were the others sitting in my row at the theater in a couple of intense race sequences. One thing I wasn't a fan of was the romance element. Kate was my favorite character, but I could have done without the love story between her and Sonny. At least, it's a relatively aspect of the story."
"F1 has all of the DNA of Kosinski’s previous film, Top Gun: Maverick. Both are about aging risk takers, who have fallen into obscurity, who get one last chance to capture their former glory. Pitt is doing his Steve McQueen-esque “I look cool and have as little dialogue as possible” act that has carried the last half of his career here and it works. He does get a few human moments and he nails them, which distinguishes him from Cruise who seems incapable of playing anything but the icon/savior figure at this point. The rest of cast including Damson Idris, Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem are all solid as well.
The strength of the film is in the racing scenes (and this coming from someone who has zero interest in car racing). They put the same amount of energy and innovation into creating a kinetic and immersive experience on the track that they did in the jets in Maverick. They make driving around in circles look thrilling.
The plotting is formulaic but they’re giving the audience what they want, so it’s hard to ding them for that. I’d go out of my way to see this in a theater because I don’t think it will play as well at home.

"While I had fun for the majority of the movie, it didn't need to be nearly 3 hours long. The cinematography and sound design were the elements that stood out the most. I felt like the acting from the entire cast was just okay. The first two acts had me hooked but the 3rd act had me almost check out. Also, the ending was very anticlimactic. While F1 had good moments, in the end, it felt like every other generic sports movie."

"I initially gave this a 9/10 but overall it’s a little lower after sitting with it and reflecting on it. It’s very solid, but it also feels extremely corporate. As in it feels like a straight up over-produced ad for Formula 1. However, it’s the best ad I’ve ever seen. The scenes are beautiful, Brad Pitt kills it, and his co-star Damson Idris fantastic. He nails his role and I’m happy he got to star in this because I’ll be following any new films he’s in from now on. Also, don’t sleep on the races. The work that was put into this movie to you feel apart of the track shines through. Especially in Regal’s 4DX. This movie was made for it and the best 4DX experiences I’ve ever had. Movie? 8/10. With 4DX? Easy 9/10."
