Has anyone finished this book?? I started it when it first came out and couldn't get into it. I love the Inheritance Cycle and I know those books take a hot second to get going, so I gave it the same grace as Eragon and stuck with it. I made it quite a ways in before giving up. Just wondering if it ever gains speed or is the whole thing as dull as the first 3rd?
Amelia Ruth-CooperPlease don't kill me...I don't get the hype 🙈 World building was lacking, character development needs a bit of help, and my god, I could see every twist and turn coming from a mile away 😂 Was I entertained? Yes, but also extremely disappointed in my expectations. Spice was a bit cringey, the plot moved extremely fast, and I feel like it skipped over important stuff, while also not explaining important concepts or what was happening in general at times. Things that needed some time to breathe plot-wise were very rushed. I also couldn't stop thinking about its similarities to many other well-known YA novels the whole time I was reading (looking at you, divergent) This hit more like a teen drama and would've been more believable if the characters were 16 and 17, not in their 20s. Cool concept, but I think it could have been executed better. Hoping book 2 picks up.
