"I'm not gonna lie, I did enjoy this.
However, it's not great. You're going to get hooked by the cliffhangers. Yet at the same time, you're gonna be so thrown off by the absolute u-turns it takes to just end up back where you expected. It's like the writers wanted to throw us off, got distracted while doing so, then went back to normal.
There is just so much wrong with it on many levels, that is if it had different levels. Sadly, it stays surface level almost the entire time. When it tries to be deep, it doesn't feel accurate or right. It feels faked & forced. The amount of cliches they use overwhelms the show. You also know exactly where it's going throughout. You expect everything, & they try to think they're clever when they get there.
This also felt like a mash-up of every D-Com story, especially the ice ones. Parts of the show felt like an Ice Princess copy (legit they stole that entire storyline for one of the shows many plots). Another part of the show felt like Go Figure, only the main character from that movie is split into 2 characters in this show. Making the character development & big revelations hit at half the power. They throw in every D-Com sports movie they could think of for the brother. While also putting Eddie's Million Dollar Cook Off character story for him & another character. You'll definitely feel like you've seen this show while you're watching it.
When you're not feeling that way, you're frustrated by the characters & their lack of analysis on their part. They never feel regret unless they're supposed to. I will give the show this, they portray an amazing working married couple. Still, characters rarely see any consequences for their actions. When they do its short lived, then they're praised or given opportunities because of it. Then the show just conveniently forgets what it did & that side plot is thrown away. It's kind of ridiculous how all over this show can be & still lead to the same conclusion you expected from the get-go."
"She is a skater girl, he is a hokey boy. Their sibling drama is turned up to the max, could this rink be big enough for the two of them? Although it felt formulaic, I liked how different characters changed roles over the season even if character growth was minimal. Just another show canceled after one season."
