"An innocent, tender & heartwarming coming-of-age story with an #LGBTQ focus.
I thought the casting was brilliant, the characters were charming, & I enjoyed the soundtrack. This was a solid 8/10 for me just because it grabbed me from the start & because “FIRST LOVE” is universal & so special, no matter what our sexual orientation is."
"Just when I thought I couldn’t love this show anymore, season 2 came in and ripped my heart out while simultaneously stitching it back together. This season maintained the love and fluff of the first season between Nick and Charlie while also creating a deeper connection between them and delving into some serious, intense topics. I am so glad we got a more in depth look at the personal lives of all the characters: Nick’s problems with his father and brother, Darcy’s tumultuous home life, Issac’s discovery of his asexuality, Tao’s abandonment issues from his father’s death, Elle’s exploration into her art, Imogen journey to find the love that she deserves and of course, Charlie’s eating disorder. All of these topics were handled with such care and sincerity that I found myself in tears throughout the season. On a lighter note, I loved the introduction of the newer characters like Sahar, James, Mr. Farouk and Nick’s rugby friends. As a fan of the graphic novel, I was thrilled to see Nick’s circle of original friends like Christian and Sai. As for the main friend group, I ADORE them and I am so glad they brought in Sahar and Imogen. Plus, that montage of them after prom to seven by Taylor Swift got my tear ducts flowing. I loved how much more emphasis this season placed on platonic love. I hope the show runners keep up the trend of improving every season because I am massively impressed."
"WOW YALL YAAAAAASSSSSS!!!! This is the most adorable and happy show I have ever seen EVER, it’s basically the exact opposite of Euphoria lol. If you don’t like to happy cry then steer out of the skid bc every 5 min I’m at the *very* least welling up. I am not a drama or romance fan and I realize this is both lol, so that should tell you how good it truly is. Absolutely HIGHLY recommend. Honestly the whole show feels like the I’m about to joy cry emoji and I’m SO HERE FOR IT. Thanks to all for making this, it’s not just unbearably adorable, it’s important. I’d legit bet it will change some lives. I’ve never seen a positive media representation of a real person struggling with asexual identity. This is amazing. I have to keep changing this review bc I wrote it before I even started the new season, I was just too excited so I didn’t know everything yet lol. I am beyond happy, especially as a part of the queer community, to see this succeed 💕 "
"4.2/5 - the cutest mf show. definition of sweet and simple. tao sucks tho lol. his back plot makes sense but could be portrayed in a not so annoying way lolllll. but really it’s a show where teenagers are just teenagers instead of dealing with intense adult traumas. plus, the awkward angst is just enough that it’s endearing. WATCH IT ITS CUTE"
