"This almost has a new genre to it - nice mixture of mystery, fantasy, anthropology, drama, horror, thriller BUT it had so much more potential to be a number One show. Unfortunately they over did it with the stories, some unnecessary rushed a lot of plots and I felt it was all over the place. Many symbols left unexplained. Too bad because I honestly think had they spent more time looking at it from the outside rather than each story, this would have been border line addictive. It wasn’t. "

"I stopped watching half way through the season. It’s basically campfire ghost stories being told in a house full of dying kids. It definitely feels childish. I don’t think it was bad, just too young for me. I also couldn’t care about the characters when they only gave us 5-10 minutes out of each episode that isn’t focused on the ghost stories that the kids are telling."

"It started slow the first couple of episodes but I did enjoy it! I enjoy everything that I have watched from Mike Flanagan. It did have a good story of working through what you are feeling when you know you are going to die. I think it definitely needed that second season to give us more insight to the mystery of the Paragon. "
"Kinda slow but not in a bad way. It was supposed to be a two-season show but of course Netflix sks and ended the show after one season. You can read exactly what was going to happen in season 2 online. It would have been great to see it and I'm disappointed Netdix stole that away from us fans. Regardless, it's still worth the watch and then reading about season 2 helps a little with the disappointment.
It's definitely a sad show. It's about a beautiful house out in a wooded area by the ocean used as a hospice for young people (usually late teens) with terminal cancer to go and live out the rest of their short lives, although one guy does have AIDS. It's set in the '90s. Every night at midnight, the current 8 residents meet in the library to tell spooky stories. This show and the stories told are based on Christopher Pike's young adult books from the '80s and '90s. But, as you can imagine, a story about young adults dying of cancer isn't going to be all rainbows and Skittles and people die. Also, it's meant to be spooky and the house gives off some creepy vibes. I really enjoyed the show. Give it a try and then go read about season 2. :)"
"A story filled with small scary tales, but the scariest story is the one they're all in. A genuinely enjoyable but deep and meaningful plot with great performances, this show only gets better as you watch. The only downfall is it's occasional reliance on teenager stereotypes and cliches, but for someone who enjoyed Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and is looking for something a little stronger, this is for you."
