"This 8 episode series on Netflix is based on the book The Pink Marine, which I haven't read so my review is based solely on the series. It's the story of a young gay man who joins the Marines with his straight best friend and chronicles their journey of personal growth as they navigate boot camp. It gave me vibes of the first half of Full Metal Jacket but a more updated version. Some might think that it's a show for the LGBTQ+ community, but it's more than that. All the other recruits represent people from all walks of life with many different problems and situations. Great storytelling, character development, and some funny comedic moments. An enjoyable and easy show to binge watch. 8.5/10"

"A great show that I binged in a day. Small twists and turns, but the plot and character development are great. I hope there's another season based on how it ended, but not sure if there will be. Also didn't know this was based on facts and a book was written about it "

Curious how close it is to the real thing though, if we have any marines here. Enjoyed seeing Miles Heizer, who I recognized from 13-reasons why, which I also enjoyed. "
