"Hugh Grant has now portrayed a new cinematic horror villain. Actually, more of a psychological horror villain. One that is intelligent and thought provoking and also creepy and menacing with a calm subtlety that's on par with Hannibal Lector. I loved this movie. This is the correct way to do a slow burn. The dialogue takes center stage in this film, and it is extremely well written. The diabolical Mr. Reed controls the scenario at all times, guiding the naive young Mormon girls to where he wants them to be, all the while testing their faith. Very well done and highly recommended. 9.5/10"
"This movie reminded me of Escape, but it had a religious component to it"

"A movie that makes for interesting conversation and imo Hugh grant leans into that pretty well with the dialogue . Def agree with another comment if you are steadfast in your faith etc you probably don’t want to sit through this movie because of the questions and comparisons it tries to raise . I enjoyed this one. "
"I finally got around to this one. It was different and I liked it. It was a commentary on how overly religious people can be closed minded and afraid to learn about other religions. It also did a good job building suspense. Even though one girl was more aware than the other, collectively they made dumb decisions and their elder didn't do much to help them. The suspense was okay but the tension was excellent. Great watch but I'm not sure I'll ever rewatch."
"Genuinely suspenseful from start to end, I was impressed by this overall 5/5 horror/thriller. The dialogue is extremely well done and the plot is tied up nicely. Scary moments, moral dilemmas that you actually want to watch. I am extremely impressed by the performances of all involved, especially Hugh Grant. So much food for thought, so much to analyze and think about, but so entertaining to follow. Completely questions religion, but unlike so many other movies, it actually gives viewers a clear answer. I appreciate the small details in this (cinematography, music, references to pop culture) because it tied it together so well. I don't think I've seen another horror that makes me want to laugh and genuinely messes me up quite like this one did."
