"This was extremely cute! Sam and Jonathan were the epitome of the grumpy/sunshine trope and it was just adorable watching Jonathan’s walls come down! I loved the reverse take on the amnesia trope. It really added life into a done to death plot. Sam was also the most hysterical narrator I’ve ever read. I don’t know if it was because I was listening to it as an audiobook and had surprise bias for the jokes and humor but I was cracking up throughout the novel. This was just genuinely a hilarious book. On that note, I also thought the touch of Sam always referring to every item in the store by its factory setting name was funny but realistic for a Bed and Bath store manager. As for the rest of the characters, I adored Jonathan’s family. They were so quirky. I highly recommend listening to the Spotify audiobook version of this book though. It was really immersive, seeing as Sam is from Sheffield England and the narrator having the same accent. It was also nice hearing him change accents and voices for all the characters because not all audiobooks do that. It was really easy for me to get sucked into the world of this book that way."

"This book is perfect it’s everything I could have wanted and I’m sad to have finished it so fast because I liked this book so much I picked up boyfriend material the plot had perfect timing the intimacy was perfect for them and it felt just right giving us enough the ending is comforting nothing was left alone everything was completely explained I enjoyed this "
"Jonathan and Sam are NO Luc & Oliver....but they're okay.

The plot of the book is somewhat problematic: Sam is about to be fired because he sucks at his job so he has an actual concussion and fakes amnesia to prolong this from happening (he ends up quitting anyways so I'm like WTF) but ends up staying with his boss, Jonathan, who feels guilty about having the concussion happen in the first place (after the incident, he calls his lawyer 1st thing WTF part 2). This all occurs during December so the recuperation time has Sam planning the company Christmas party and meeting the folks. Like, wow. The ending was a LITTLE predictable but not by much - I did like the scene where Jonathan met Sam's family - that was sweet.

The saving grace in this book is Gollum, the cat. Never thought I'd say THAT but he's the most unique character of them all (Jonathan's family's a close 2nd). The way he acts around Jonathan is hilarious and how Jonathan reciprocates in kind is funny too. Love that the cat ends up being the biggest part of the glue that brings these two together. The scene where Sam goes back to Sheffield and how Gollum takes this is pretty hilarious too.

There are some great scenes in this book: The scene where Sam finds Jonathan at the supermarket in the pet section, the scene when the family "moves-in", how Jonathan's mom is cleaning up for the housekeeper ("We don't want her to think we're dirty!") and the scene with the guinea pig Santa Hat ornament.

It's a cute read & I'm still a fan but this could've been fleshed out just a little more...."
"I’m not even sure how this book got this title.
I’m going to go with more like 2.5 ⭐️ for me."
