"I loved the characters. These are some of my favorite characters ever. Jane is so selfless and smart while Oliver is so observant and caring that they couldn’t help but fall for each other. I was a little frustrated with the resolution of the main conflict but it still all worked out in the end. I will remember the how these two lovable characters came together for a long time."

"I wanted to love this book. I did. Honest.<br/>I just...couldn't.<br/><br/>It's not a BAD book, but it's not a good one, either. Oliver, brother to the Duke of Clermont, is trying to establish HIS place in the world by working toward Parliament and then the next Prime Minister of England. Jane, a low-born (bastard) heiress, is trying to make HER place in the world by getting people to notice her. She doesn't want to MARRY them, per se, just wants them to notice her. She does this by thumbing her nose at all of the social norms and dressing in the most ridiculous outfits she can create. <br/><br/>Oliver treats her like a forbidden fruit, or a cookie when one is on a diet: I shouldn't, but I JUST can't help myself. He kind of goes back and forth with her, all the while, she pretty much stays her course throughout the book. She acts this way to ward off suitors for so long as she can become her sister's guardian. I absolutely ADORED the love story between her sister, Emily, and Anjan. He's such a sweetheart. Everyone in this book is a fish out of water for one reason or another but they all find their pond at the end of the book.<br/><br/>There wasn't anything truly AMAZING about this book, no real scenes that reached up and grabbed you. It's the equivalency of wandering down a goat path, with an ending at the end that's pretty uneventful.<br/><br/>3.5 / 4 stars. Kinda disappointed, to be honest."

"I oddly feel conflicted over this book. I really enjoyed the first book and honestly I enjoyed Emily and Anjan's story probably more than I enjoyed the first book. But it's a subplot in Jane and Oliver's story. I found myself struggling to connect with Jane, mostly due to needing a man to fix her problem.... I know that is not at all how it's supposed to come off but that's how it felt. And then the resolve to everything just feels weirdly unbelievable. Oliver I liked in the first book. He seemed like the strong, quiet sort from the first book, the level headed reasoner in the group of friends. This book didn't feel the same. I felt a little disappointed honestly."
