Tragedy strikes when Jacob's younger brother, Will, follows him through the portal. Brutally attacked, Will is infected with a curse that is quickly transforming him into a Goyl--a ruthless killing machine, with skin made of stone.Jacob is prepared to fight to save his brother, but in a land built on trickery and lies, Jacob will need all the wit, courage, and reckless spirit he can summon to reverse the dark spell--before it's too late.

"As many people have commented before, it does takes some pages to actually understand what the hell is going on in the story, once you pick up though, it becomes a smooth read. I do believe that the pace in this one was a lot easier to keep. It did feel that it relied heavily on the same 'crossing worlds' formula that went so well with Inkheart though and after so many complex feelings over there, it cost me a lot to feel this set of character's feelings.
Which is exactly the reason I give it four stars, after something more complex like Inkheart, I might have been expecting way tooo much of this book and I think that is problably what 'ruined' it for me.
But in retrospective, I did enjoy reading it, so there."
"I did not make it very far in this at all. I have no issues with the reader, but the storyline seems a bit jumbled. I feel like it starts in the middle of another story that I haven't read and I have no idea who the characters are or why I should care about them.

Try again later? Not with all the other options out there. This is just not the same as Inkheart (which I do adore)."
