As the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male’s loyalty to the Black Dagger Brotherhood will be tested in this breathtaking novel in J. R. Ward’s #1 New York Times bestselling paranormal romance series. Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies. It’s also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious nightclub that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His dangerous reputation is exactly why he’s approached to kill the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood—Wrath, the Blind King. Rehvenge is used to living in the shadows and keeping his distance from the Brotherhood. As a symphath, his identity is a deadly secret—the revelation of which will result in his banishment. But as Rehvenge is pulled into plots both within and outside of the Brotherhood, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world. Ehlena is a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him—and the only thing standing between Rehvenge and eternal destruction...

"Reread. This series started to pick back up with this story. New characters and species are being brought so it's not as predictable. I just love the brotherhood, the way they intertwine and start to feel like an old friend.

Rehvenge and Elhena where amazing characters. I loved Rehv's half blood even though I did get tired of hearing "His sympath side" over and over. It made him very interestingly dangerous. Elhena was strong and unbroken though she had been cast out by the society she didn't let it phase her. Very very sexy scenes in which Rehv's halfblood made it even more so.

This seires is very male heavy in which they are the muscle and the women take care of them when they get home. So it was so exciting to see Xhex step up and show them girl's can kick ass too. She has always been far in the background but stood out well in this book and has become a favorite of mine. The way she bantered with the brothers lol I was like y'all need move her into the mansion like yesterday. Oh the way she hides her Sympath side so damn sexy.

Of course how can I forget the background characters. The king Wrath went thru a lot in this story and to see the way he got back on his feet made me so happy I can't wait to see more of Payne❤❤❤. Xhex and John's feuds were so heartbreaking. I really felt the deadness in his eyes with all that has happend. Also Z and Bella I will clutch on to any info I get on those two lol.

I'm really getting back into this seires and want to finish it. I just have become so invested in this family. Iv cried and laughed with them so much."
"Good story, but I do wonder that as the seventh book in the series, that the story development each time is getting at bit too formulaic."

"I think this is my favorite book in the series so far! Much more mystery and intrigue...and I absolutely fell in love with Rehvenge. You wouldn't think a drug-lord/pimp/*****/sympath could be a good guy, but he had his reasons. To protect his family. Wrath was a large part of this book, which I enjoyed, and Tohr has finally decided to rejoin his Brothers and stop living in the past. J.R. Ward continues to amaze me with her creativity. Her vampire world is dark, sexy, and violent, but goodness ultimately shines through. The urban slang she writes with took a bit of getting used to, and really annoyed me at first, but I'm used to it now and barely notice it. This book seemed to be a very pivotal point in the series - Wrath has finally accepted his role as king with his heart, not just a son filling the role of his father. It takes almost losing his shellan, and completely losing his vision to get to that point, but he is a stronger man for it. Tohr, spurred on by the fact that Lassiter, the pain-in-the-ass angel that saved him was sent by his murdered shellan, Wellsie, has rejoined the Brotherhood. Rehvenge is not king of the sympaths, and no one is quite sure how that is going to work. Xhex has been kidnapped by Lash, the son of the Omega, and John Matthew realizes that no matter how much they've hurt each other, he loves her, and vows to find her...which follows in "Lover Mine"."

"Well I pretty much read most of what J. R. Ward wrote over the last few months. Now I'm working on A Court of Thorns and Rose's. I love it"
