"Ok WOW red tower you’ve done it again!! This book was full of so many twists and turns and mysteries I loved thinking about what was going to happen. I’m so interested in what’s going to happen in the next book. The guardian ?? LOVE! I love how the FMC was literally bad at almost everything but she still grew as a character"
"Shield of Sparrows is a fresh, cinematic romantasy that leans into slow-burn tension, rich worldbuilding, and the allure of enemies-to-lovers stakes. With a premise that reads like a mash-up of Throne of Glass and Fourth Wing, it promises monsters, magic, and a reluctant princess who dares to rewrite her fate—and for the most part, it delivers.

The banter between the leads is top-tier, with that biting, reluctant camaraderie that fans of the trope live for. I also appreciated the high-stakes atmosphere and the emotional undertones of duty vs. identity. There’s a lot of meat on the bones of this story—legacy, rebellion, sacrifice.

But despite all that, something just didn’t fully click for me. Maybe it was the pacing, or maybe the emotional beats didn’t land with the intensity I wanted. I found myself wanting to feel more—more depth in the romance, more risk in the danger, more heart beneath the sharp edges.

That said, it’s a solid and original entry into the romantasy genre, and fans of Sarah J. Maas or Rebecca Yarros will find a lot to enjoy. It just didn’t quite soar the way I hoped."
"This was a really good Romantasy read! I loved the world and the magic system, but the ending god was so fricking dark. RIP Zavier, when Evie was crying for her Papa, my heart shattered. The ending with the pure fear I could tell all of them felt when the Crux started out of nowhere. The Guardian/Ransom has become a new favorite of mine! The slow burn! The tension! It was so good! I loved this! It wasn’t perfect, but it was just what I needed. A good Romantasy. The next book I think is going to be amazing, this entire series is going to be amazing! Thank you Devney Perry"
