The ManipulatorI can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh. But my words don't affect him.Especially not when I plead for him to leave. He's always there, watching and waiting. And I can never look away. Not when I want him to come closer. The StalkerI didn't mean to fall in love. But now that I have, I can't stay away.I'm mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves. The way she undresses...I'll keep watching and waiting.Until I can make her mine. And once she is, I'll never let her go.Not even when she begs me to.

"Complete honesty, I really did like this book! I thought the plot was good and Zade…. 🤤. It just was some of the **** scenes… I guess I’m not into dark romance like I thought! The first one with the gun I was just like… EW. That’s the only reason I have it as a three star! Also with all the TW and everyone saying to read the triggers I guess I just expected… something different idk. Zade’s devotion though.. speaks enough for itself"
"Woof. Alright. I finished it fast but I have a lot of opinions. Booktok is gonna hate me for this one. Here we go:
This is not a “ohhh he’s morally grey it’s so hot. He’d burn the world for her” type vibe. Zade is a rapist, a serial killer, and extremely mentally and emotionally abusive, but yes let’s romanticize those behaviors, sure.
Adeline is a pretty flat character to be honest. We learn how much of a supposed great writer she is in the first few chapters when she states she could live anywhere in the US to write. However the author rarely, if ever, goes into detail about Addie’s books or even books Addie is currently writing even though we are in a few scenes where she’s “working on her next book”. She is portrayed as ordinary and unremarkable except to Zade and the antagonist. This is important to note, as in book two she is portrayed as stunning, drop dead gorgeous, etc. She’s literally called “the diamond” FFS
I feel like this book grossly misrepresents CNC and therefore a lot of people now are misinformed and have different expectations of what it is.
Romanticizing alcoholism anyone?
Plot holes galore. Still don’t really understand why Nana covered up the murder and why Addie’s mom also helped? If the house was constantly being watched by Zade’s guys at the end, why did no one follow her when she left to check in on Daya? Evading police in an hour, in Seattle? That’s a bit far fetched.
It was a fast read for me because honestly, I just wanted to learn who murdered Gigi and if Addie ever gets smart. Spoiler; she doesn’t."
"This book…(sigh) let’s see if I can explain this book. It is another #booktok hype. And it is labeled dark romance. Honestly, maybe slightly between the characters. But, I was more bored with the “Romance” with the characters. And maybe the book is considered dark because of the human trafficking the book talks about. For me because of the industry I work for and the area I live. I’m used to those kinds of stories. I didn’t think I was going to read the next book. But, now I have too because…the book ended with a cliff hanger. "
"Im sorry. Im not usually this harsh but.. i dont get the hype. Got to page 222 and Dnf. It was too cringy.. felt like i was reading a fanfiction by an edgy 14 year old. 🤣😬 "

"The first few sex scenes are literally sexual assault/ rape. So, Zade this vigilante pedophile killer is literally doing everything to her that he literally kills people for who do the same thing to kids!!! Stalking, forced sex in which she fights and cries?! Is that not what the child predators he kills do?! So in my opinion poor character portrayal. This book was as spicy as it promised. I totally loved and get the ‘cat and mouse’ appeal. The way he takes control and worships her body. Some really hot scenes that I got into once you / Adeline realizes it’s what she likes. "
"Just no. Well written, but not for me."

"Haunting Adeline is very much over hyped in my opinion.

The first half of the book the writing seems very novice. The author uses way too many metaphors in attempt to describe the scene. One metaphor used a Wizard of Oz reference which seemed very out of place in this book. She stated that the FMC needed the lions courage (which he had none) like the tin man needed to oil her door hinges. There were a couple of incomplete sentences or vocabulary words that did not seem to fit in where they were placed. I finished the book but the entire time I was cringing at the authors poor writing.

I loved the plot surrounding the murder of her great grandmother.

On social media I believe too many people are hyping up Zade and making the fact that he stalked and raped the main character seem okay all because he was doing it out of love. Definitely major trigger warning for rape, sexual assault, and stalking. I have seen too many young kids reading this book thinking that this is okay because so many people are hyping up Zade all because he’s a vigilante majority of the time but a rapist on the side."
