"I am giving this 5 stars, something I did not expect whatsoever based on what I thought of the previous books. It is really 4.5 stars and I was debating whether to round up or down, but ended up with 5 because it really is a fantastic book. The writing is excellent, the characters are well fleshed out and interesting (I liked Nicole much more than Elma, sorry Elma), and most of all the story was incredibly gripping. There were some issues with believability regarding the science, diversity, and plot, but very few stories are perfect, especially in science fiction. I really liked how diverse (in gender, race, religion, ethnicity, etc.) the cast was, and that Kowal went straight for the big issues, I just have trouble believing the U.S. in the 60s would be so progressive in selecting such a diverse people to lead. So, I had to suspend my disbelief in that regard in order to just enjoy what was happening.

I doubt I'll read it again, but I'm looking forward to more in the series."
"I enjoyed this, as I have all the books in the Lady Astronaut series thus far, but I didn’t love Nicole Wargin quite as much as I love Elma York. That being said, Nicole’s voice is sharp and distinctive, and I enjoyed her perspective as well as getting more time with other favorites, such as Helen and Myrtle.

As for the plot, it took a long time to come to fruition, but I loved the lunar setting and arc of investigation. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s was a bit of a space mystery, and I’m a sucker for it.

I’m curious to see where the next books take us, and I enjoyed seeing the alt history play out!"
