Navessa Allen
From the author of TikTok's favourite dark and steamy romance, Lights Out, comes Navessa Allen's second book in the New York Times bestselling Into Darkness trilogy I want this woman, and I'm a man who always gets what he wants. Nico 'Junior' Trocci knows Lauren Marchetti is off limits. Men like him don't get to have women like her. It's why he pushed her away in high school and still keeps his distance. But Junior follows Lauren online, and now that the shy, bookish girl he remembers is gone, he can't stop obsessing over the strikingly beautiful woman who has taken her place. He's ruthless; a walking red flag. Good thing red is my favorite color. Lauren 'Lo' Marchetti knows Junior is dangerous. He broke her heart once and she won't let him do it again. But as their flirtatious encounters escalate, Lauren starts to remember why she fell for the brooding antihero all those years ago.As old obstacles resurface, Junior and Lauren are forced to face their true feelings for each other and decide just how far they're willing to go for a second chance at love.Caught Up is a fast-paced dark romance with a morally grey male lead. "3.5⭐
While I did enjoy this book, it just didn't pack the same punch that Lights Out did for me. The plot was practically non-existent (most of the book was just sex) and although I liked both of the main characters, I didn't just adore them. Junior definitely had his swoon worthy moments, and he was a fairly complex character, but I just didn't click with him. He and Lauren were pretty great together, and I loved their communication skills, but their romance was just way to insta-love/insta-lust for me. There was nothing terrible about this book, but it wasn't nearly as amazing as book one, in my opinion. I'm glad I read it, but it's probably not something I'll ever reread.

"4.5 ⭐️ I’m just going to go ahead and give this the same rating I gave Lights Out. Even though Josh brought more comedy and charisma to Lights Out, Nico absolutely brought his own kind of dangerous appeal to this one. I also felt like this one stayed more on course as I remember feeling like Lights Out went a bit off the rails towards the end. I am here for the Aly and Josh cameos and am super excited for next couple’s story in this trilogy."
"Really fun read! Had cameos & surprises. I needed a diagram at the end…it was like trying to figure out a geometry problem in your head. Not too happy about the possible reveal on who the book 3 MMC is since he reminds me of Ryan from The Office. The narrators did a great job. I took a star off only because SPOILERS!!!!!! of how Josh was portrayed as a walking lovable Hodor instead of the sarcastic smart-@$$ we all love. "
"I would have probably rated this lower, because I didn’t enjoy the act of reading this one, especially compared to the first book. However, I really loved that Allen tried to humanize sex workers. In an Andrea Dworkin/Contrapoints, exclusionary rad fem world, I find that more important than finding the work a bit plodding and clumsy. Did it feel a bit like spaghetti thrown at a wall? Sure. Did I genuinely laugh at parts? Yes, absolutely. Once Allen learns to tighten up her storytelling a skosh, and make her moralizing a little less after school special-esque, I really do think she’d be great."
