"I received an arc of this book from Rivetedlit for an honest review. I'm giving it a 1.5 because it has potential it could be the start of something great. I really really wanted to love this book I did but it just wasn't there. I honestly went into this book with extremely high hopes and thought it was going to be something like Outlander. However, I was extremely disappointed. This book left me in a book reading slump. It's also left me really depressed. I love when the women main characters are put in tough situations and they pull themselves up by their bootstraps, but in this book the main character doesn't so it really wasn't the book for me. The author also told us that the main character met one of her best friends in second grade but then later said she met him and a rolling rink party where she met her friend Maddie. Which left me as the reader utterly confused. I got more than half way through and just couldn't finish it because it just wasn't enthralling me. I read books to escape the real world and this book made me want to escape from the books I love so dearly."
