"I didn't expect to love it as much as the Shadow and Bones books but wow! Bardugo expands the Grisha world previously built and gives it a realness that I don't feel like a lot of fantasy writers ever accomplish. The characters' histories and stories make you feel connected and have you rooting for them. Very good, highly recommend!"

"4.5 ⭐️ This book, while in the same world as the Shadow and Bone series, has a very different vibe to it. The story is about an unlikely group that is put together to complete a heist. Chaos ensues. I was a fan of the references to the original trilogy, the continuation of world building and meeting these intriguing characters. This is written in a non linear format so you get intermittent glimpses into each of their pasts to give their backstory. Our MMC, Kaz, is a mastermind and the plot was full of suspense that kept me on my toes and hung me off a cliff at the end. I will immediately be picking up Crooked Kingdom. "

"8/10- this book was really good and the plot was intriguing. While it is clearly fantasy, it’s almost realistic. It’s like the fantasy is just an extension of the real world. I would have rated the book higher if it wasn’t for the fact that the beginning was rather confusing. Too many characters were introduced too quickly and it took me about 100 pages to get everything straight. Overall it was a good read and I will likely read the sequel. "
