Their lesson plans didn’t include love. But that’s about to change…When Martin Krause arrives at Rose Owens’s high school, she’s determined to remain chilly with her new colleague. Unfriendly? Maybe. Understandable? Yes, since a loathsome administrator gave Rose’s beloved world history classes to Martin, knowing it would hurt her.But keeping her distance from a man as warm and kind as Martin will prove challenging, even for a stubborn, guarded ice queen. Especially when she begins to see him for what he truly is: a man who’s never been taught his own value. Martin could use a good teacher—and luckily, Rose is the best.Rose has her own lessons—about trust, about vulnerability, about her past—to learn. And over the course of a single school year, the two of them will find out just how hot it can get when an ice queen melts.

"I wanted to like this more than I did, but I did overall find it charming. I was really annoyed by how many times pedagogical was used, but also, I feel as if maybe it wasn’t that much and I’m just overreacting. I loved the first 25% and was meh about the rest of it. I didn’t love the finale and I thought the epilogue was corny."
"4/5 ⭐️ This book really surprised me! I had heard good things about this author but nothing about this particular book. I was so impressed! The characters were older than is often typical in romance books and as a result had a lot of past traumas they were working through. I thought the issues they were working through felt realistic and I loved how supportive the leads were towards each other in encouraging them through those processes. The romance also felt so sweet and natural, and their open and honest communication was so refreshing! This is a workplace romance with a dynamic that shifted from enemies to friends to lovers with a single dad main character. Workplace romances can be hit or miss for me but this is everything I love about one, and I loved the way workplace power dynamics were discussed. The leads also just felt so well suited for each other. In terms of negatives, it took me a while to connect with the characters because their personalities felt like they were dialed up to 10 (ice queen and socially conscious/feminist/too perfect for real life man). But overall I am excited to read more from this author in the future!"
