Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil image

Topic: Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil

Might land myself in hot water here but I want to see what everyone else thinks - I didn't like this one from VE Schwab...As with all of VE Schwab's books, she knows how to write and her concepts are fantastic but this felt too bloated and drawn out for me. Further thoughts in the comments! Let me know what ya'll think!

Hailey *For the record, I didn't completely hate this, I gave it 3 stars, so there was some things I liked but obviously there's stuff I didn't like, hence my rating* Alot of people said Addie Larue was drawn out (I think the opposite) but atleast Addie Larue still had stuff happening that kept the plot moving. This book though? Not a whole lot imo, Sabine's chapters felt like they actually had stuff happening and Alice's chapters just felt like constant monologs and flashbacks. I also felt that this didn't bring anything new to the table as far as queer vampires w/ female rage is concerned. I've read several books with those same elements and this didn't feel any different or unique...

Sarah Ortinau Haven’t read it yet, still excited to, but I think the bloated feeling have been in other works of hers (I noticed it a lot in ‘Vengeful’ for instance). I think it might be that she doesn’t always balance world/character building and her pacing. That just be a me opinion though

Hailey I haven't felt the bloat in her other books until this one, and I've read the monsters of verity duet and Threads of power, those books are chunkers! but that's just me. Hopefully you have a better experience reading it than I did!
