"With a stacked cast of real thespians and stage actors this movie had to be epic. Richard Burton stars as Alexander, Fredric March as Phillip II, Claire Bloom as Barsine, Peter Cushing as Memnon, and so many others. I have to admit that I didn't like this movie as much as I thought I would. Yes, the battle scenes were incredibly well directed, and the costumes and sets were lavish. But this movie was produced like a Shakespearean play, with long narratives from Richard Burton, which became tiring to the ear. I have rated this movie four stars mostly because of the first half of the plot, and the set up of Alexander's life and relationships, and his rise to the throne. "
