"It had its moments. It was ok"

"Everytime I watch this I am in awe of the visuals. It's absolutely incredible what the CGI in this movie accomplished. Especially for an older movie. Truly I saw more mistakes in modern MCU movies with their CGI than this one. The part of them running through the town being destroyed is incredible. Every part is so meticulous with their background details in that moment and those following you can't help but be awestruck.
But let's move past the effects. This story is something incredible. Don't get me wrong it is complex and you need to pay attention yet it retains your interest. The quality of this movie just truly amazes me. Fully and utterly. The acting is great, you've heard me rave on the effects & visuals, the characters have depth, the story is uniquely complex, and it feels realistic. I enjoy it truly.
Now don't get me wrong, you won't want to watch it if you wanting something light in the background. This movie is meant to be the centerpiece of your attention. But that's expected of a proper book to movie adaptation. I may not have read the book but I can see the beauty of this story that can only come from a novel first.
Every part of this screams book adaptation but it's not in a bad way. You get that feel like when you watch Harry Potter and Hunger Games. Being thrown into another world while you experience a sensation only movies like those can give you.
I do like seeing the many characters it provides. Some of them you expect and others shock you in unexpected ways. Shrike is so awesome as well. Basically, if you're in the mood for something to capture your attention and go a thousand years into a dystopian future, try this one out.
At least it ends, unlike other movies that have a series to follow. I love me a good sequel, but this one only left me wanting to see how the future of this story plays out. While normally I need more from the story right then and there as if its not finished. I know there is a book sequel but I'm good."
"(2018) Mortal Engines is set in a post-apocalyptic world where cities are mobile and roving predators that devour smaller towns to survive. The story follows a young woman seeking revenge against the man who killed her mother. Based on Philip Reeve's novel, the movie brings the world to life with impressive sets and intense battle scenes. It's a solid take on a dystopian future with plenty of action. The world-building is intricate, adding to the movie's impact. It's a fun watch with a unique premise. 8/10"
