"While this has Ari Aster written all over it, "Eddington" is something completely different. The film had a ton of heavy-handed political commentary but it's not too overbearing. Great cinematography throughout. The pacing of the film was honestly slow but the finale wrapped things up pretty nicely. Its not your typical weird horror masterpiece, but a solid drama reminiscent of films like Fargo from Ari Aster. "
"I can see how this film isn’t for everyone. It is messy, and covers a lot of ground in it’s run time. However, I found the chaos, absurdity, and setting engaging. It’s a testament to Aster’s directing when all of the main characters are unlikable, but as an audience member I can still walk away entertained/ intrigued. "
"Two stars purely off of the fact that there were a lot of moot scenes/lines/story arcs that the movie could have done without and it would have been great. It was overdone and chaotic. I feel like a lot was added that would appeal to simple minded people as outrageous but instead just over crowded it. If the talking points for the movie were things like “and why did he eat the coffee grinds or were they actually even coffee grinds” then that’s just bad writing. But there were also a lot of aspects to the movie that were great too. I liked it but it definitely wasn’t brilliant. "
