"I really wanted to like this more than I did. As sci-fi/horror movies go, this one has the potential to be a good one, but ended up being mostly a disappointment. The first two thirds of the movie is a slow burn, where the limited dialogue is very hard to hear at times. There is a decent amount of production value put into the visuals alone, but the storytelling is where this goes wrong. Trippy and confusing. The last half hour does redeem itself a bit, but the overall execution could have been much better. 6.5/10"
"I went to see Ash after work and went into it mostly blind. I figured I like sci-fi horror so I thought I'd take a chance on it. While I wouldn't call if a favorite and not exactly the most original, the atmosphere really makes the movie along with the soundtrack which was the real standout for me. Also, I wasn't ever expecting to see Iko Uwais and Beulah Koale share the screen together. If you like John Carpenter, you might want to check this out."
"Although the movie was ok I was still disappointed. Visually this movie is stunning, from the cinematography to the effect. This is one of the best looking sci-fi movie I’ve seen in a while. However, the story is a bit all over the place which really annoyed me. I feel like they tried scrambling parts of the movie around in order to purposely confuse the watcher to make it seem more “original and complex”, but it just didn’t work."
