"If you’re someone who enjoys shows about #quirky people & #relationships, then I think you’ll get some good #feels & #laughs out of this new show on #AppleTV+. It’s a #character_driven, slightly #absurd, #darkcomedy #drama & there’s good chemistry between all the #relatable characters. This #dramedy focuses on Jason Siegel’s character, Jimmy, who is a troubled therapist going through #grief & experiencing some #anxiety after the death of his wife, as he’s trying to repair his #relationship with his daughter Alice (Genera+ion's Lukita Maxwell) & getting advice when he can from the people closest to him in his life (which include fellow #therapists played by Jessica Williams & Harrison Ford. There’s also a neighbor played by Christa Miller, and his lawyer best friend played by Michael Urie). It’s good #hilarious_mania & you can see that Harrison Ford is having #fun with his role as Jason Siegel’s cantankerous, #sarcastic colleague & mentor. The #absurdity of it all is the #unconventional #therapy that gets employed here. Each episode is only 30 minutes."
"This was truly a great show. I cry at everything in movies and tv, even once at a commercial lol. Believe me when I tell you I didn’t cry at this one. I straight up sobbed. Audibly. Uncontrollably. And it was worth every second of it. Starting Jason Segel, Harrison ford, and the brilliant Jessica Williams, this sh*t hits *hard* yall.
It’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s sad, it’s real, it’s wonderful in all the ways. All 3 of them play therapists who fully rely on each other for more than just professional insight. I don’t want to spoil the dynamic, just trust me that this series is so super great.
Worst thing about it is that it’s on Apple TV so I had to watch the whole thing during a free trial lol. HIGHLY RECOMMEND "
"Update: Just finished watching Season 2 and omg, I loved the character development and growing pains going on for everybody but especially Jimmy. Him breaking down in front of Paul brought me to tears just having me remember those same feelings I experienced in my life (I didn’t have the same situation happen to me, just the feelings).
Glad to see therapists have their own problems to deal with.
I liked how serious and how funny it could get at times. It kind of makes me wish I could do therapy like Jimmy was doing with his clients but there are rules for a reason.
Gaby, Brian, and Liz are my favorite characters so far, I love their personalities. Gaby is the person I wish I could be like when around people and not be afraid to say something especially when it comes to calling people out on their stuff.
Overall, I liked the show a lot, it was heartwarming, comedic, and sometimes sad. They chose the cast very well, the actors did a great job."
"i couldn’t help but spend a lot of time comparing this to ted lasso. i don’t think the characters STUCK to me as intensely, but this is undoubtedly another hit by the creators. the perspective on grief feels extremely real. the line “that’s all we get. but it was so fun!” rocked my world; i was instantly in tears. while i have my qualms with some storylines, i mostly just walked away with an appreciation of the people who pour their beings into stuff like this, with dialogue so witty and vulnerable it makes you hope there are people out there who interact and hold each other like that.
