Based on Mo Shu Bai's novel of the same name, the story follows Liu Yuru, the daughter of a cloth merchant who suffered from a young age. She is married off to notorious playboy Gu Jiusi, who looks down on her. However, Liu Yuru decides to learn business from Gu's mother and becomes adept at it. She changes her view of Gu Jiusi and discovers his pure and sincere side. Meanwhile, the commander of Yangzhou causes chaos, forcing Gu's family to flee. Gu Jiusi matures and becomes the Minister of Revenue, working to lighten the tax burden on the people. Liu Yuru establishes a women's charity and builds business relationships to bring prosperity to the people. Together, they create a prosperous era.

"I enjoyed this quite a bit. I waited to watch this because I was worried they would drag out the main couple going from dislike to friends to lovers. I was surprised how quickly they moved us along in the story. It didn't feel rushed or too slow at any point. The character growth was very enjoyable. The only reason I dropped it to 4 stars was I felt like there was too much political drama. 5 emperors in about 10 years is crazy. My goodness. I enjoyed that while the country changed hands a lot, the villain stated the same. We didn't get enough back story for the villain. I felt nothing for him. His reasoning and hatred for our male lead is dumb. However if you look past the villain's lack of backstory and driving force, the story was enjoyable. "
