"It's actually a really great show.
Now, don't get me wrong, there is cringe everywhere. But there's also a true core to the story that it maintains even until the end. It's incredibly well-made storywise. With a few issues here and there, as with every show.
The only real complaint is that in the final season, you get mixed into another story, Ebelow. And there's no real way to watch them together without spoiling the other. The best way I'd suggest is to watch first 8 eps of s3 here, then the first 8 of s1 of ebelow. Then continue on TH until ep10, do the same to EB. Finish TH, then EB.
And I'm gonna be completely honest, I watched ebelow before this. But since their stories come to a head in the 1st season of ebelow, I had to watch trollhunters. I'd say it's far superior to ebelow, and I liked that first.
Since that revelation is out of the way, I did find trollhunters to be a tad slow at times. It was great, but many episodes I felt like were elongated moments that led to the point we all knew it was going. As in, instead of just walking straight, it went in figure 8 patterns until it slowly reached its destination. (Best way to describe it)
Despite that though, it's really good. The animation is superb, the voice acting is phenomenal, the story does keep you going, and the humor will make you laugh. Sure, at times, it's excessive and you'll cringe but the overarching plot you become invested in and want to see how it ends.
It's also got something from everyone. Action, magic, romance, intrigue, unique story mixed with a few cliches to not completely disinterest you, and deeper characters than you ever realized. Even the side ones who you think are throwaway turn into something more. It's enjoyable.
Overall, a fantastically well executed show that should keep anyone who pleases hooked as they watch it. There will be moments it drags on and you may even watch something else as you finish it. But you can't help but finish it, and maybe get into the spin-offs too. "
"I can’t tell you how happy this series made me. Guillermo del Toro is such an amazing film maker. Trollhunters is so beautifully made"
