"So this movie is cringy, annoying, and weird. Ignoring the outfits, "love that joker" smiles, and the bizarre script, the movie's hidden meaning is what gives it life, and I why I keep rewatching this film.
Zombies are segregated at the start of the film by a fence and separate classroom. Sound familiar? Zed tries to blend in, but also uses his differences to help everyone. As an LGBT person that just hits home.
Some of the songs are catchy, but none of them are very good singers. "
"When I went into this I expected a cheap D-com version of warm bodies. I was right. . .but it also has some catchy tunes, great choreography, and sadly a crud ton of cliches.
Where warm bodies has an intricate world and action, this has dance numbers and music. Sadly the cringe is completely and utterly intricated into the plot, story, and characters. When it finally seems to have something good going for it, it snaps back. They do really try to sell the love and Addison as a hero for all but it just doesn't work well.
Where it does work well is Zed and the zombies. Again, they are full of cliches. The dumb brute sidekick, and the rebellious one too. Plus in true Disney fashion a dead parent. He's more interesting and intriguing than Addison yet they do focus more on her, trying to force that woman empowerment all over the place.
But where does it work? Some of the songs are good, not great but good. It's cute at times too. The little sister saves every moment she is I'm. Honestly her presence makes things tolerable. It's also why the climax of the movie is just so impactful and fun.
However, the shift in Bucky after his big revelation will give you whiplash. I get him rejecting everything a little bit, but it's clearly not where he was heading. They just realized they needed more conflict and decided to have his character development go off a cliff. It also doesn't help that all the sequels after kept him down there too. It felt like a bad version of Aubrey from Descendants and Aubrey sucks so that's really saying something.
Overall, it's a cute show I'm sure kids will binge and like. Clearly, it's worked due to the number of sequels. The cringe is outstanding and you really only need to watch it once. And I did mean its a bad D-Com version of Warm Bodies. It just also needs an add-on of musical to it. Plus an endearing message that's trapped under bad D-Com flair."
"Y’know...at least Descendants was a waste of a GOOD concept. This doesn’t even have that going for it. Racial coding that even Brightburn would find eyerolling, mind-numbing, forgettable autotuned music, and all for Baby’s First Tolerance Lesson. It was clear long ago that Disney Channel saw High School Musical’s popularity and just kept trying to capture lightning in a bottle from that, but the kids who grew up with HSM have kids who get left with their soupy, rotten leftovers and that sucks. "
"This movie , is about the importance of a movement and making progress. The suitable ways it references its self to the movement of the blacks is great and the sequel does well job with natives. I feel like the musical kid vibes is a good way to teach tolerance and how accepting new people is a good thing. It is a great movie to show to young ones about the importance of accpeting and love #love #endracism #fight"
