"When you think horror, you don’t necessarily think fun, but in some ways that’s what this was. The story line was fast paced and kept you interested with all the twists and turns, and the actual physical book design was fun and playful. Really glad I chose to pick this one up for “spooky season”. "
"First of all, horror is not my genre, but I do like ghost stories and thrillers. Horrorstor is sort of a combination of both, and it wasn't overly horrifying. I had hoped for some more depth it its plot and character development, but the focus was more on the quirky delivery and the setting. Set in Orsk, an Ikea-like store, Horrorstor's appeal comes from its packaging—it feels as though one was reading an Ikea catalog, complete with ads disbursed among the chapters. I both read and listened to parts, and the audiobook narrators made the story more entertaining. I feel like Horrorstor is best experienced through both mediums. Pick up a copy to flip through and enjoy the layout and design, but listen to the audiobook for the novel itself.

The plot felt a little cliche, but it was fun for a spooky read. A group of employees are locked in the store at night, investigating mysterious occurrences and vandalism that have been occurring after hours. The lights go out, and—you guessed it—the terror begins. Two of the employees are there, not for work, but have snuck in to make a ghost hunting film, the other three are a manager and two employees underneath him. Their vigil doesn't go too well. There's a bit of gore. People get hurt... Some make it out, some don't.... And I'll leave it at that."
