Quickie-mart employee Melissa and paraplegic Richie are very much in love. Supported only by Melissa’s small hourly wage, they are nevertheless thrilled to learn that Melissa is pregnant. Then their situation deteriorates, and their tenuous financial situation threatens to bring their happy life crashing down.

"Tired of intentionally ugly aesthetics in these American indie movies- moldy buildings, filthy walls and doors, everyone smokes and is trashy. Not everyone who is down on their luck are okay with living in complete squalor. There are other ways to portray life's misfortunes besides placing characters in settings that would realistically be shut down by the health department and condemned. Also, no offense to Naomi Watts (she is a beautiful woman) but she was 45 when she did this movie and I think it would've been a more believable story with someone younger cast in her role, especially with the pregnancy bit."

"2013. Matt Dillon. Norman Reedus. Thought I’d give it a shot. The film is inspired by Barbara Ehrenreich's non-fiction book Nickel and Dimed which investigates many of the difficulties low-wage workers face. Sad story. But a very real one for many. "
