With the help of student assistant Boris and stolen university equipment, Dr. Harry Wolper plans to clone his dead wife. But then he meets Meli, an egg donor for his experiment, and they fall in love. Faced with choosing between his deceased wife and Meli, Dr. Wolper sees his situation in a new light when Boris' own new love, Barbara, falls into a coma. Meanwhile, another professor tries shutting down the cloning project.

"This is a somewhat awkward romantic comedy, in which Peter O'Toole plays a hopeful biology 🧫🧬 professor who hires Vincent Spano to help him clone his beloved deceased wife from tissue he acquired. The professor meets a quirky student played by Mariel Hemingway. She tries to woo the professor during the entire film, which, to me, is cringy. But there is another romance going on between Vincent Spano and Virginia Madsen, which is much more adorable and fun. Overall, this is a light-hearted movie with a few serious moments. "
