"Gave this new comedy series a try — it’s well-cast and the soundtrack slaps, but ultimately, it’s not for me. As someone outside its target demo, the amount of #awkward, #cringy sex tipped it over the edge. That said, major props to Benito Skinner on his first series — it leans into the messiness of figuring yourself out: college life, identity, and learning who you are. It’s totally relatable… and make no mistake: it’s very, very #gay. 🏳️🌈🎉
🎬 The highlight for me? The first 5 minutes of the premiere — Connie Britton & Kyle MacLachlan as the parents had me LOLing, and Hailee, the super-tall dorm mate, is an absolute scene-stealer. 😆 Watch that intro just for the laughs and those 3 standout characters alone! 👍🏾

"This 8 episode comedy series was entertaining and held my interest, despite the fact that I'm surely not within the intended audience demographic. It tells the story of Benny, who is still in the closet as he tries to navigate his freshman year of college. He makes a couple of good friends along with a lot of fake friends while trying to sustain the facade of being a macho football player type from Idaho. It's a little raunchy at times but not overly so. The cast is mostly unknown but capable and there are a few well known cameos including Didi Conn (Frenchie from Grease) as a hysterical old lady. The characters are likeable for the most part but there are a few characters that are vapid and unlikable, which I guess are needed for contrast. This was an easy binge, and I assume that they are planning a second season because it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. 7.5/10"
"binged this in 2 days. which is wild for me bc my ideal watching pace is glacial. but i just had a weird urgency to experience it. it was a whole lotta fun. genuinely sweet friendship at the core. i do think some tropes were too much at times like the miscommunication/lying and teasing coming out. i also dunno why it focused on certain characters like peter so much. some weird tonal shifts here & there. i was much more invested in benny & carmen. benito skinner just has such a natural charm and i find his expressions hilarious. i’m always gonna be invested in shows like this that display queer struggles & the fear of change when you decide to be yourself. also the college culture was very exaggerated of course but lowkey real. "
"I’ve been watching Benito Skinner’s content for nearly a decade and was so excited for this show. While it absolutely has its moments, both funny and moving, I can’t lie—it’s a pretty bumpy, uneven ride. This season begins to find its footing in the final three episodes, and I hope if it comes back for season 2 we see it hit its stride!"
"I love Benny and want to support all his projects. Some parts of this show are lovable and funny. That being said, the show got way better about half way through but there’s something stilted about the comedy and the pacing. And basically, other than Holmes and Adam DiMarco , I’m not buying the acting skills of anyone else in the cast. Still, I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. "
"Need season 2 now!"
