"This series was a criminally underrated gem that deserved much more attention than it received. Set in the late 1950's, Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Ike Evans, who owns the hottest hotel in Miami Beach, the Miramar Playa. He mistakenly gets involved with a mobster, Ben "The Butcher" Diamond played expertly by Danny Huston. Huston really shines as the villainous antagonist. He plays him as cool, confident, and bold one moment but ready to explode into violent outbursts the next. The writing for this show was top notch and there are plenty of subplots with many interesting characters, played by an amazing cast to keep things moving at a good pace. The set designs were beautiful and all the clothes and cars were period correct. You'll feel like you've stepped out of a time machine, back into 1959. There was quite a bit of sex and nudity so it's definitely not for family viewing. Regretfully, Magic City only ran for two seasons, 2012-2013, and things wrapped up nicely but it deserved more seasons. In season two James Caan joined the cast and was a welcome addition. I really loved this series and was sorry when it ended. I want more. 10/10"
