Jeremy’s got a girlfriend and a reputation as a bad boy, so Melody resolves to keep her distance. Despite her good intentions, a series of awkward circumstances—including an embarrassing crying jag, a latte vs. computer catastrophe, and an emergency fake date—throw her together with the heavenly-smelling paragon of hotness. As the billionaire playboy and nerdy computer whiz forge an unlikely friendship, Melody’s attraction to Jeremy grows deeper than she’s ready to admit. How much will she risk for a shot at her happy ending? This slow burn, sweet romance is the first in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring heroines who work in STEM fields.“Nix lightheartedly mashes up various romance tropes—the fish out of water, opposites attracting, colleagues in love—for a whimsical story that fans of contemporary romance will enjoy.” —Publishers Weekly“If you like books like Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, you’ll like this one.” —Smart B*tches, Trashy Books“A geeky fish-out-of-water story with a charming billionaire prince who falls for the girl despite the two of them having little in common.” —Heroes and Heartbreakers

"Remedial Rocket Science by Susannah Nix ***/*****
#AnyPlay #Reviews

Triggers: Cheating,
Troupes: Second Chance, STEM Heroine, Fake Relationship, Friends to Lovers

I have so much to say about this book and nothing to say at all. I have very mixed feelings about whether or not I liked this book. On the one hand I had over hyped this book in my mind before starting it and on the other hand I still really want to love this book. I just don't. My main thought about this book is that if I wanted to listen to a neurotic insecure smart person I would just tune into my inner thoughts. So much of this book was spent building a relationship between the two characters without actually building anything. We get a lot of very small interactions between the two and then without really knowing anything about Jeremy (Besides the fact that he is a habitual cheater) Melody decides she's in love with him. She knows nothing about his hopes and dreams, how he interacts with friends, or even what he likes to do in his free time but sure she’s head over heels for this dude. I just don't understand.

I thought at some point we’d get to the point where they start getting to know each other but we don't until the last chapter. Honestly I spent a large part of this book being very bored and very tempted to skip to the end. I don't know if I’ll read the rest of this series since this one was just so bad but I’d like to see if they get better. I doubt it but I will give it a try, maybe. I’m confused about how this is even a series since all of the side characters we met were paired up by the end, so if they are connected I’m assuming the next book will feature a very minor character. I’d also like to add that the narrator's voice didn’t help this story in the boredom factor since. Overall I was just very unhappy with everything.

PS: Once a habitual cheater, always a habitual cheater.

Ebook: https://www.amazon.com/Remedial-Rocket-Science-Chemistry-Lessons-ebook/dp/B0721MYNL5/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Remedial+Rocket+Science&qid=1637580626&qsid=144-4995785-6497708&sr=8-1&sres=0999094807%2CB07RT6PSHP%2CB07QSSP2JV%2CB07Z5DFTZS%2CB00GAC6470%2C0813595835%2CB08RY53TGC%2CB08ZDV4374%2CB074CHJMPG%2C1498772323%2C0439616565%2CB079K5QH6W%2CB08BHWJ3FR%2CB07CNXV6M6%2C1508587590%2C1541762592&srpt=ABIS_BOOK
Audiobook: https://www.audible.com/pd/Remedial-Rocket-Science-Audiobook/B079C63BTR?qid=1637580631&sr=1-1&ref=a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=83218cca-c308-412f-bfcf-90198b687a2f&pf_rd_r=BEA1QQV49RH9JS8A50B1
Author’s Website: https://www.susannahnix.com/
Goodreads:
"
