"Taraji P. Henson gives an emotionally devastating and powerful performance in this drama written and directed by Tyler Perry. We follow Janiyah, a single mother who works two jobs and struggles to make ends meet. Her day starts bad and seems to get worse by the minute. There are endless obstacles and a relentless amount of hardships thrown at her, taking her to her absolute breaking point. The twist near the end was unexpected, heart-wrenching, and tragic but brings everything into perspective. Well done. 9/10"
"Taraji P. Henson made this SO worth watching! I don't remember how many times I cried just from her facial expressions or voice, nothing else was needed for you to feel the emotion she was transmitting. My ONLY thing was that the dialogue for the police was kinda whack, I think they were acting more stupid than necessary - if it were just one stupid cop (or a few even) okay but it felt like only one was actually smart - maybe this is more realistic than what I expect. Would definitely recommend!! 9/10 🔴 🔴 💥 "

Janiyah wakes up in a rundown apartment with her sick daughter and an eviction notice. Drops her daughter at school and goes to work and gets yelled at by her boss. She has to leave cause there is an issue at school and CPS takes her daughter away. She leaves and a dirty racist cop hits her car and gets it impounded. She goes back to work and gets fired. Then she goes home, and all her stuff is outside cause she was evicted. Then she goes to pick up her check and is caught in a robbery. Then there is a misunderstanding, and they think she is robbing the bank...this all happens within 30 minutes of the movie. This is why I do not like Perry and his writing style. It's always the same...always about the struggle with nothing uplifting about it. He beats you over the head with the same stereotypes and messaging. Just once I wish he would make some uplifting material. Taraji is good but gets close to over acting. I blame Perry for this and his direction. Glad he wrote a part for Sinbad. It was good to see him. The rest of the performances are mediocre with a lot of over acting. Fans of Perry will enjoy this. Everyone else can skip it. You have seen this movie before.
